When planning to see cherry blossoms in Kyoto (), distinguish three things: the area of each location, how recently official blossom conditions have been updated, and whether temples offer special evening visits that year. Observations of cherry blossoms () do not establish fixed flowering dates, and spring special openings must be confirmed each year. The evening hours above relate to 2026 arrangements, not identical dates every spring. The 2026 blossom reports stopped being updated in spring. When reading them later, check the page title and last update date, rather than relying only on old condition icons.

Places and events: Separate blossom areas from evening visits

The official Kyoto blossom information is divided by area, allowing visitors to follow conditions where they plan to go. Open the page for the relevant area; do not assume that all of Kyoto will reach the same flowering stage on the same day.

What to check before departure

Special evening visits are not available at every cherry blossom location. Kiyomizudera’s published 2026 hours only describe arrangements for that year. For future travel dates, check the temple’s announcement for the relevant year before departure; spring blossom reports cannot be used to infer evening opening hours.
