Itoshima () is a coastal area west of Fukuoka City. Rather than listing every attraction, this article presents a feasible day trip based on actual public transport timetables and introduces the characteristics of Itoshima’s different areas. For transport details, see How to get from Hakata to Itoshima; for other Fukuoka information, see the Fukuoka travel guide.

Key points

  • The Itoshima Tourism Association highlights Sakurai Futamigaura (), known for sunsets and the Meoto Iwa rocks (), as a representative attraction
  • Showa Bus [25] to the Futamigaura area runs only 6 times a day, so plan around the timetable
  • The last return departure from Nishi-no-ura is 17:26 on both weekdays and holidays, making it unsuitable for a sunset-viewing schedule
  • Bus routes differ for other areas, such as Keya and Shiraito. They are not covered here; consult official information

Areas of Itoshima (as introduced by the Itoshima Tourism Association)
